Bio

With an artistic vision rooted in beauty, accessibility, and unification, Luca Sutto strives to reconnect people with the inner impulse of art. His music cuts through barriers of pretense, offering profound, human expressions that explore the wonderful absurdity of being alive.

Born in Italy in 1989 and currently based in Hamburg, Germany, Luca earned an M.A. in Composition, an M.A. in Piano, and a B.A. in Jazz Piano from the Conservatory of Parma, Italy. He further honed his craft by assisting Alexander Schubert in the Multimedia Composition department at HfMT Hamburg.

Bio (continues)

As an improviser, he specializes in crossover music spanning Early Music—particularly improvised counterpoint—to Contemporary Pop, with a strong focus on grooves and Latin rhythms, and a guilty pleasure for game music. He brings to the stage his Impro-Visions series, where he interacts with the audience "on the spot," improvising in different styles, genres, and moods based on their input.

In 2024, he founded the Modern Academy, a music school operating both in Hamburg and online, where he teaches piano, composition, and improvisation through his self-developed MAM method, which combines traditional partimento techniques with modern ear-training and improvisational approaches. He also serves on the composition jury of World Piano Day Belgium, a festival and competition for young pianists and emerging composers.

Luca continues to push boundaries through collaborations with musicians, participation in festivals, active engagement with music-passionate people worldwide, and his educational work.
